The FBI is hosting a Comprehensive Integrated Training Exercise (CITE) in Indianapolis, IN from August 11-15, 2008. The CITE will feature two and one half days of classroom training, a half day tabletop exercise, and a full day, full field exercise/demonstration of response capabilities in the event of a WMD attack with a improvised chemical weapon and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Featured speakers and events include the following:

Live Improvised Explosives Demonstration

Indianapolis FBI Division Special Agent Bomb Technician (SABT) Don Sachtleben will present a one half day lecture and live demonstration of improvised explosives and IEDs including those which have been encountered in the overseas arena.

SWAT Capabilities

During the course of the FTX demonstration, intelligence gathered by law enforcement personnel will lead law enforcement to a clandestine laboratory and a live demonstration of a SWAT entry, operation, and decontamination will occur.

Chemical Weapon Attack and Response

Intelligence gathered will lead investigators to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway where an improvised chemical device will be identified and disarmed only to be compounded by the discovery of an IED. The FBI?s Hazardous Materials Response Unit (HMRU) will deploy to the scene to address the chemical device but will encounter an IED which will require SABT response as well.
